The big problem with acne is when it will not go away. Chronic pimple problems are very common in those with really severe acne. This means that crop ups are never ending. They seem to only spread, not clear up completely. It is as if as one set of blemishes begin to disappear, a new set arises. This can be very hard to deal with both physically and emotionally. Physically, chronic acne leaves horrible scars. This is due to the many blemishes piling on top of each other at once, popping on their own or with help, and the size of the pimples. Emotionally, the scars are even worse than the physical ones. They are also much harder to remove as well. Persistent PimplesPersistent acne really is hard on those who suffer from it every day. Getting pimples can be hard on everyone. They are unsightly, make one feel self conscious, and make you feel unclean. The problem with acne that will not go away easily is that the sufferer feels that way all the time, not just once and a while. This can have a permanent impact on their self esteem. Acne that will not go away will need to be monitored by a doctor. If your doctor cannot do anything for you then ask to see a specialist, a dermatologist. Most doctors will ask you to try the many over the counter remedies again prior to your appointment. Document what you have used, for how long, and the results. This plus the examination will tell your doctor if you need something stronger to get rid of your pimples or if you have an underlying medical condition that is causing it. The Reasons Why The reasons that people get acne can vary greatly. While most common forms of pimples are due to clogged and infected pores and hair follicles, there are many other reasons. For those who have severe acne that does not seem to improve with over the counter or other conventional methods, there could be a medical problem making you get them. Hormonal imbalances such as PCOS, thyroid issues, and diabetes can cause serious acne problems. The problem with acne for these people is that it cannot be kept under control till the illness is under control. Once you seek treatment for your condition you may see that you do not get acne at all or once in a while. You can also find that regular interventions now work if and when you do. Getting Treatments For those with severe acne the course of treatment is the prime concern. The problem with acne treatments is that they are trial and error in some cases. If you have a specific medical condition then you will need to follow your doctor's recommendations for medication, diet, and any other instructions. If this does not cure the acne problem all together, then you can then try some over the counter medications to fix the problem entirely. For those with stubborn acne that is not condition induced, you can ask for a prescription acne medication that not only clears up the existing acne fast, but also prevents future acne from cropping up.
